In the two years since its launch, Kickstarter, an online crowdfunding service, has had one million people sign up and pledge financial support for all sorts of projects: everything from graphic novels to computer software to music recording art. In the past year, Kickstarter has grown over 200%. Of its supporters, 84% have been one-time donors, but 16% have financially supported more than one project. Three quarters of all pledges have been for $50 or less.
